ESSENCE MATT MATT MATT LIPSTICKS | SWATCHES

The new Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipstick. The name itself cracks me up, but holds true to how matte this new range from Essence really is. Internationally, these lipsticks have been released as a part of the Fall/Winter collection for 2016, but they are slowly rolling out in Canada this Spring/Summer 2017 season, so you can definitely count on seeing them pop up (if they are not there already) in your local drugstore.

Available in eight shades ranging from nudes to deep reds, these lipsticks claim to smoothly glide over the lips to provide a long lasting matte finish and bold colour without drying out. Retailing at $4.49 CAD, you can't really go wrong, as there is a shade in the mix for everyone.

I got to try out five of the eight shades, and not that I need any more lipstick, but I would definitely like to try the other three once I see them on Essence shelves. The Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks come in a silver container with a corresponding coloured lid, each containing the standard, 3.8 g of product. All of these lipsticks are highly pigmented, and glide smoothly on the lips with one swipe. While some may say the lipstick smells "generic", I found that they were slightly sweetly scented and didn't mind it at all.

SHADES (from left to right)

01 Natural Kiss | A peachy nude that is more on the pink side which is great for my warmer skin tone.
04 Pink Up Your Life | A bright, hot pink that has insanely high colour payoff. This is my favourite shade from the five I got to try.
05 Red-y Or Not? | This red veers between a pink and red. It's great for cool toned skins as it has blue undertones.
06 Kiss Me If You Can | A true red that is the epitome of a staple red lip for every girl.
07 Purple Power | Hearing purple might sound scary, but this is a very wearable deep purple-pink shade that is my second favourite from the lot!

Overall, I'm in love with the Matt Matt Matt Lipsticks from Essence! While I definitely think the pink shades are more matte than the nudes and reds, they stay on my lips for a good four to six hours, depending on what I eat and drink. I like how easy they are to apply and how they don't dry out my lips, which tends to be a problem with matte lipsticks.

  1. That is a decent amount of time for lipstick to last. Mine do not tend to last very long. I use a wide range of different products though. I will look for these. Love the peachy shade there.

  2. I honestly wished there were more nude shades in this range as I would definitely buy more of it! So far, the ones I've tried have been quite phenomenal ;-)

    1. I'm not a huge nude shade type of person, but I totally get what you're saying :) If there was more than eight shades in the collection, I definitely see how they could include more nude shades!
