MY SUMMER STAPLES | FEAT. COCOA BROWN

It's crazy to think that summer is nearing its end. It doesn't even feel like we've had a summer, considering the amount of rain Toronto has gotten this year. Regardless of the lack of summer though, I found myself enjoying the sun when I could, and with my trip to California back in July, I definitely got my fair share of sunshine and warmth.

I've rounded up some of the top products that I've been using over the summer so far, and since summer's not over yet, you'll definitely want to keep reading to see what's been working for me.

THE PRODUCTS

NYX MATTE FINISH

I wrote a blog post featuring this setting spray last year, which you can read more about here. It's the perfect setting spray that mattifies my face for the entire day, even in Californian heat. It's small and compact which makes it perfect for travel, and is totally budget friendly too.

PIXI SUN SERUM

This is a two-in-one product that contains a lip balm and a sunscreen. I have to say that the idea is super cool, but I found myself reaching for the sunscreen more than the lipbalm. It has SPF 30, and is a super lightweight, non-greasy formula. I carried this around in my purse all summer and always reached for it during the day when I felt the sun beating down on my skin.

NEUTROGENA OMBRELLE SPF 60 TINTED SUNSCREEN

I also wrote a blog feature on this sunscreen and it's quite in-depth, so I will link it here if you are interested in reading more about this gem.

ESSENCE COLOUR CORRECTING POWDER

This powder works similarly to one of my favourite face powders from Essence (All About Matt!). It has different pigments of colours that are designed to colour correct ie. cancel out redness, brighten underneath the eyes, etc. I find this powder to have the same mattifying effect as the All About Matt! but it's definitely finer and less chalky feeling.

BENEFIT WATT'S UP!

We all know how important that highlight is, especially in the summer. The Watt's Up highlighter comes in the cutest packaging (picture a super hipster lightbulb), and the product is super blendable and lasts all day on my skin. I like how easy it is to apply in its stick form, although I do just prefer to blend it out with my fingers instead of using the blending tool that is on the opposite end of it. It's a shimmery champagne colour that I feel like would work on a lot of different skin tones.

COCOA BROWN GOLDEN GODDESS

The newest addition to my summer essentials has been Cocoa's Brown's Golden Goddess Shimmering Dry Body Oil. The one I've gravitated towards is the Golden shade, although they do offer a Rose Gold shade which I feel like would work better for pinker skin tones. My tan has turned into a golden colour, so this body oil is the perfect addition to make my legs and arms look super glowy and shimmery for night outs. The shimmer in this oil is quite subtle, although it does separate so I definitely have to shake it up before I use it. This body oil sinks in the skin within a couple The end result is just incredibly beautiful skin!

I hope you enjoyed reading about some of my summer staples this year! What have you been using this summer? Let me know in the comments down below!

xoxo,
Nancy
