NIP+FAB | GLYCOLIC FIX LINE

The new Glycolic Fix line from Nip+Fab is the ultimate exfoliating range. Today, I'm talking about three products from their new range; the Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme, Glycolic Fix Overnight Purifying Gel, and Glycolic Instant Fix Mask

WHAT IS GLYCOLIC ACID?

Glycolic acid is a natural ingredient derived from sugar cane, although these days it is often made synthetically. For some chemistry background, it falls into a set of molecules known as AHA's, or Alpha Hydroxy Acids. Glycolic acid is the most common AHA, and is considered as being one of the most beneficial forms of alpha hydroxy acids. It acts as an exfoliant, removing the outer layer of dead skin cells on your skin allowing new, fresh skin to shine through to the surface. It also contains anti-aging benefits, lightens skin discolouration, and helps with acne-prone and blackhead-prone skin.

THE PRODUCTS

GLYCOLIC FIX NIGHT PADS EXTREME

Out of the three products I'm featuring, these exfoliating pads are my favourite of the bunch; probably because of how practical they are to use and the awesome results I've seen on my skin! These pads contain a 5% level of glycolic acid and also contain salicylic acid, making these the ultimate nighttime treatment for your skin. Once or twice a week, I like to take one of these pads and sweep it across my face after a thorough face cleanse. They act as a toner for my nighttime regime as well as a weekly exfoliator.

I've been using these for the past few weeks and I do think it is a fantastic treatment that has refined my pores and brightened my complexion. Although these have been a great addition to my skincare routine, I wouldn't recommend using them more than two or three times a week, as the glycolic acid and salicylic acid is definitely too strong for daily use.

GLYCOLIC INSTANT FIX MASK

This is a high potency mask designed to tighten pores and exfoliate your complexion. The gel-like texture of this mask reminds me of those peeling masks where you wait for it to dry and then peel it off but this mask maintains its original texture whilst on the skin. After cleansing my skin, I like to apply a thin layer of this gel and after about ten minutes, I'll rinse it off with lukewarm water.

I'm sure it's a combination of using several products from the Glycolic Fix range but I have noticed that my skin has gotten a brighter complexion since using these products. In particular to this mask though, my skin feels a lot smoother after rinsing it off, although I am not sure if it helps very much with making my pores look smaller and more refined.

GLYCOLIC FIX OVERNIGHT PURIFYING GEL

This is a clarifying treatment designed to treat dull and oily skin. Like all products in this range, the combination of glycolic and salicylic acid lifts away dead skin cells and deeply cleanses the pores. This gel is more of a nighttime treatment, and acts like an overnight mask. After cleansing my skin, I will forgo all of my other skincare products and instead, apply a thin layer of this gel and massage it gently into my skin.

I haven't used this product enough to really develop a true opinion of it, but I can say that I think it's very similar to the Glycolic Instant Fix Mask, the only difference being that you leave this on overnight. Why I haven't used this product as much is because I found the treatment to be very sticky, and I don't know about you, but I definitely don't like going to bed with a sticky feeling on my face. While I feel reassured that the purifying gel is working it's magic, if you're looking for something that contains all of the benefits of glycolic acid, I would stick to the mask or the exfoliating pads.

I've been seeing products featuring glycolic acid everywhere these days! I haven't gotten much of a chance to try them out, but do you guys have any recommendations for products containing glycolic acid? Do you guys have any Nip+Fab product recommendations?

Cheers!
Nancy
