THE OPPOSITE OF LONELINESS
Every now and then I'll read a book and from the first few pages, I know it will be on my ever expanding list of 'favourite books'.
Marina Keegan had this way of writing that just draws you in makes you want to keep on reading. This book is a collection of short stories and essays written by Keegan during her time at Yale. Her final essay for the Yale Daily News is the titular work, and the essay that opens this book. What I really want to say about this book is that once you read it, you will just get it. If you would like to read her essay, The Opposite of Loneliness, it is available on-line here.
It truly is the ultimate read for X and Y generations, and really makes you think about life, and I say that in the broadest sense possible. At times you'll laugh, at times you'll cry, but in the end, the feeling of living a life of purpose was the most rewarding feeling I got after finishing this book.
Cheers!
Nancy
