GENERATION BEAUTY TORONTO SWAG

The May 14-15 weekend marked the very first international Generation Beauty convention, stationed in none other than the beloved city I call home, Toronto, ON! For those who don't know, Generation Beauty is a two day event hosted by Ipsy where the biggest brands, influencers, beauty lovers and more come together to check out the latest products, interact with beauty bloggers, and of course attend meet-and-greets with a roster of Youtubers who are always a major highlight of #GenBeauty.

I came into the position of volunteering for the event and was also given the chance to attend the event, which was super exciting for me. I have never been to these convention-types of events before so this was quite a different experience for me but it was so rewarding and fun! On the day I volunteered, I was given the chance to work essentially behind-the-scenes and set up what Generation Beauty attendees would be seeing the next day. I got see all of the amazing booths first hand, helped tape line-up lines, packed badges, helped with pre-registration (for those who were eager to sign in early to avoid heavy lineups) and also got to work closely with the production team as well as some Ipsy employees!

As an attendee, you receive a pass which you can write your name on and inside the pass is a "passport" which contains a map of the venue which you are able to use to navigate your way around the place. The passport also contains tear-off tickets, which you are able to use at the booths to redeem for a free product or sample. Generation Beauty events are KNOWN for the SWAG, for both attendees and creators, and this passport also features two swag bag tickets for Day 1 and Day 2.

Being lucky enough to attend the event, I left with a hoard of products (seriously, every booth was so incredibly generous). I've rounded up some of my favourites from my haul of goodies down below.
THE FAVOURITES
LUXIE ROSE GOLD TAPERED HIGHLIGHTING BRUSH 522
LUXIE ROSE GOLD CONCEALER EYE BRUSH 211
TARTE POWDER PLAYER BAMBOO POWDER BRUSH
SMASHBOX PHOTO FINISH HYDRATING FOUNDATION PRIMER
NUDESTIX GEL COLOUR LIP + CHEEK BALM
PHYSICIANS FORMULA #INSTAREADY BB CREAM
PHYSICIANS FORMULA #INSTAREADY CONTOUR TRIO
CROWN BRUSH STUDIO PRO BROW DUO C413
ABSOLUTE NEW YORK EXPERT EYELINER
NYX PRO LIP CREAM PALETTE
ROYAL & LANGNICKEL MODA LIP BRUSH

Overall, my experience at Generation Beauty was everything I expected and more. Depending on the booth, lineups moved slowly or quickly, but everyone was so lovely and nice throughout the entire event. The NYX booth was packed, but totally worth it! They were one of Generation Beauty's Diamond sponsors, so they received a huge booth. Inside, you were able to walk around to the back to take part in a photo booth, as well as enter another lineup to submit your email for a grand prize as well as receive a bar of chocolate with an adorable pink NYX wrapper. It even came out of a vending machine! Too Faced was offering a custom shade match of their new concealer, while Make Up Forever gave away a makeup bag full of their products. Some of the booths had games and extra things you could do to receive more products (such as posting a photo on Instagram or liking their social media pages).

I can't wait for Generation Beauty 2017, fingers crossed that it comes to Toronto again! It was very valuable to attend as both a volunteer and an attendee, although next year I might attend as a creator, we'll see...

Cheers!
Nancy
