WINTER BODY CARE SAVERS

The winter months tend to really dry out our skin, so it is even more important to stick to a body care routine to keep it soft and hydrated. I tend to suffer with dry elbows and knees, and I have found that a combination of exfoliation in the problem areas as well as intense moisture has really helped. In addition to that, my skin has felt more firm and plump, as well as smooth and in a general sense, so much better.

The first step to having truly nourished skin in the winter is exfoliating it to get rid of any dead skin cells. I have included two products I have been using for exfoliating my body. The first of which being Lamb Soapwork's Chai Tea Latte Soap Bar which I featured in a blog post a few months ago. This soap bar smells amazing and the ground up spices in it such as cinnamon, cardamom and cloves makes for great gentle exfoliation. I like using this in the shower to get the bar all lathered up which then makes my whole shower smell like a giant chai tea latte (no complaints here!). For something that goes a little beyond gentle exfoliation, I like to use an exfoliating glove, which I will use dry in the shower, or it is also great for lathering up with your favourite body wash.

After a thorough exfoliation, your skin will definitely need to replenish with some moisture. Soap & Glory's The Righteous Butter is formulated especially for very dry skin, but it is so absolutely perfect for the winter months. It has a very distinct "Soap & Glory" smell, but is very luxurious and moisturising for the skin. After my shower, and with still damp skin, I'll apply a generous amount of this and let it sink into my skin.

I have mentioned L'Occitane's Shea Butter Hand Cream numerous times on this blog, but that is because it is hands down, one of the best products ever. EVER. It's on the pricier side, but I find that I only have to repurchase this hand cream once a year, so it works out quite well. It absorbs quite quickly, and the pleasant yet minimal scent makes it perfect for men and women. I love this product and I will continue to pick it up, as it is something I can no longer live without.
